Pardon Tillinghast
Walking along Benefit Street I came across this curious memorial set down in the middle of a small yard, all fenced in. It reads:
"Elder Pardon Tillinghast born near Beachy Head Sussex England 1622 emigrated to America and to Providence 19th of 11th month 1643. Died in Providence Jan. 13 1713 aged 96."
According to one source, this is in fact the original Tillinghast family burial ground.
