He descended to the grave, venerable
in years, and highly respected for a
conscientious, and cheerful discharge
of all the duties of a Husband, Father,
citizen, and Christian.

The native vigour of his intellect was
much improved by reading; and from a
daily perusal of the Scriptures for many years,
his heart was imbued with the truths of the
Christian Revelation, of which he was, for a
long period, to his decease, an active professor,
striving always, by precept ad example, "to adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things."
